The Which Boiler Buyers Guide In More Detail
The Which? boiler buyers consumer report features complete reviews of 52 different combi and heat only boilers and provides the 6 best buy boilers as determined by the rigorous Which? test procedures. Which? also offer an online boiler price comparison service for all of the boilers in their reviews so you can be assured that you will be able to research the best price online for your chosen boiler.
Which? test the 52 boilers for three main areas; boiler efficiency, boiler build quality and the ease of use of the boiler. The tests are carried out to European Standards in order to measure how much of the gas each boiler burns is converted into heat and as a part of the test each boiler is installed by a gas fitter to determine whether the gas and electrical connections have sufficient room for the installation and whether the boiler was easy to fit.
Further areas that the boiler review covers are the noise that the boiler makes during operation; how easy the boiler is to use and the ease of difficulty in obtaining spare parts for the specific boiler model on test. The final test is the durability test. This is a stress test that attempts to mimic everyday use to see how the boiler withstands prolonged usage. As part of this test the Which? panel switch each of the 52 boilers on 2,920 times each (for combi boilers this figure is even higher) and run them on full power for 5 minutes at a time. This test is the equivalent of the boiler being used over the course of a full year.
